Dr. Bhushan Punani

Dr. Bhushan Punani left a lucrative career in industry on completion of his Management Degree from the Indian Institute Management in 1979 and joined the Blind People's Association. He is one of the first professional manger to join the disability organization. He completes his 27 years in BPA this year and during this period, BPA has grown from a small organization to one of the largest and fastest growing organizations in Asia.

Dr. Punani in his 27 years has also completed his law and has done his doctorate in "Management of Educational Systems for the Blind". He is associated with several international organizations like the Deafblind International Council for the Education of People with Visual Impairment, Sense International, Sight Savers International, Christoffel Blindenmission.

Dr. Punani is to be congratulated for his selfless devotion to the field of the blind and the fact that due to him, this field became attractive to other young professionals. His achievements include the Helen Keller Award, the R. M. Alpaiwalla Award. He has presented more than 100 papers in national and international conferences, is a Member of most Committees of the Government and has authored four books.
