Kachchh Comprehensive Rehabilitation
Centre - A project of Blind People’s Association initiated with relief
and rehab activities in Kachchh after the devastating killer earthquake
2001 has stretched its activities from prosthetic – orthotic workshop
and physiotherapy services to day care centre catering services to daily
25 multi challenged children, 50 bedded hospital for eye surgery and
outreach camps for prevention of blinding conditions, Residential hostel
for multi challenged girls where 25 girls are provided
education-training & rehabilitation services, Sammilit Pathshala with 55
enrolments for standard 1st to 3rd where challenged & normal study on a
same platform, production of chair specially designed for persons with
cerebral palsy also in process of setting up tricycle production unit,
community based rehabilitation for capacity building and facilitation of
various available services through night meetings, audio visual aids,
various awareness materials & creating cadre of disabled persons for
sustainability of the activities through intensive training and skill
development programs. KCRC as the name implicates is aimed for
comprehensive development of the community.
The landmarks of the year:
New physiotherapy satellite centre: Mankuva
Self Employment Opportunities: 35 persons (Mobile repairing kit,
sewing machine, hand cart, ice box)
Aids & Appliances: 159 + 659 (BK)
Skill development program: 45 persons underwent skill development
program in mobile repairing, electrical home appliances repairing and
tailoring & cutting.
Physiotherapy services: 110 services users benefitted per day
from all the centre’s
Services to needy children starting from certification, medication,
training to school admission, scholarship, health insurance & rehab: 457
